On Friday afternoon, Kazakhstan and San Marino go head-to-head in Group H of qualifying for Euro2024 in what could be a crucial penultimate qualifier.
Kazakhstan form guideThe home team are currently in third place in Group H, four points behind the group’s top two, Slovenia and Denmark. The odds are against Kazakhstan catching the top two, as they will have to win both remaining games and hope one of the top two teams slips up to book their place at Euro2024.
Magomed Adiev’s team heads into this clash with a highly respectable recent record, winning five of their last seven outings. Their recent games have certainly delivered goals, as six of their last nine matches have produced over 2.5 goals. In fact, seven of their previous ten qualifiers have also produced over 2.5 goals.
Kazakhstan needs to improve their recent home record to progress in the future, as they have won two and lost four of their previous six home qualifiers.
San Marino form guideThe visitor's recent record is indicative of their recent international football history, as they have suffered nine straight victories, eight of which have been in qualifying for the European Championships.
The fact that they have conceded at least two goals in the previous eight international outings has not helped them pick up positive results. However, there was one slight positive to a 2-1 home defeat by Denmark last time out, in the fact that San Marino scored for the first time in nine matches.
Incredibly, but not surprisingly, San Marino has lost all 42 of their away games in European Championships qualifying. They have conceded at least two goals in all of the defeats while scoring just twice.
What am I backing?Kazakhstan are in decent form and should record a comfortable win. However, the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals, as both teams tend to be involved in high-scoring encounters.
