Things are cooking at the top of the Championship, and in one of the biggest games of the weekend, we have two promotion contenders going head to head. Ipswich are the home side, no longer in the automatic promotion spots and down in 4th, they host the team directly below them, West Brom, who are in 5th.
Ipswich Form GuideIpswich were excellent at the start of the season, and have maintained that great run but over the past few weeks, those behind have been catching them, and now they've been overtaken, not by one team, but by two. Ipswich are in 4th, two points behind the automatic promotion spot they've held onto for so long, and now the tables have turned, they are the ones chasing teams down.
It's all been their own doing too, a really poor recent run has seen them fall. Since the middle of December, a period of eight weeks, Ipswich have won just once in the league, a 2-1 home success over Sunderland in January. Last weekend they suffered defeat away from home, losing 3-2 at mid table Preston.
West Brom Form GuideWest Brom have been towards the top of the table for most of the season, but at no point have they genuinely threatened the the automatic promotion places. Although one position behind Ipswich, they're 11 points behind, and 13 off second placed Southampton, so for them, it's all about maintaining their grip and advantage in the race for the playoffs.
They're going about that nicely, regularly picking points up and have a four point cushion over the teams who are outside of the playoffs. They come here on the back of a win in the league last weekend, beating Birmingham 1-0 and overall have won three of their last five.
Match PredictionIt's a crucial time for Ipswich, and I think they'll struggle to win again here. I am taking West Brom on the double chance market in this one, which covers the away win and the draw, I think they can take at least a point home with them.
