Dundee Utd vs Inverness CT Prediction (23.03.2024)

On Saturday afternoon, Dundee United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle go head-to-head at Tannadice Park in what could be a massive game at both ends of the Scottish Championship.

The Tangerines experienced a blow to their chances of automatic promotion last time out, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at Dunfermline Athletic. The loss ended a three-game unbeaten run in the Scottish second tier.

Their decent form has the home team top of the Championship standings. However, Jim Goodwin’s team is only ahead of second-place Raith Rovers courtesy of a superior goal difference.

A recent inconsistent run of home form in the Championship has not helped their promotion hopes. They have won two, lost two and drawn one of their last five games in the second tier on home soil.

Dundee United have been relatively prolific in the Championship on home soil recently, scoring at least two goals in four of their last six games.

The visitors are currently in ninth place in the table, occupying the relegation spot. However, they are just two points adrift of eighth-place Queen’s Park while also being eight points clear of bottom of the table Arbroath.

A 2-1 home defeat against Ayr United last time out means that the visitors have won just one of their previous seven Championship games. However, four of their previous six league games have ended in draws.

Despite their lowly position in the table, Inverness are unbeaten in four away games in the Championship, recording three wins and a draw.

The key to the recent unbeaten away run has been their attacking prowess, as Inverness has scored in all three of the recent away wins.

Dundee may be in a stronger position in the league, but Inverness are no pushovers. I can see this being a high-scoring encounter, so the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored.
