Preston vs Huddersfield Prediction (09.04.2024)

Preston are falling away from the playoffs, and you get the feeling they are heading into a must win game on Tuesday night. Huddersfield are the visitors at Deepdale, a team who got themselves out of the relegation zone at the weekend, with a huge last minute win, they would love to bring that momentum here.

Just when Preston needed to push even harder, they come here on the back of two games where they have failed to win. That leaves them on 60 points, seven off Norwich but they have a game in hand, so that could make it four. You get the feeling that anything other than a win here here would give Preston a blow they may not be able to recover from.

At the weekend, Preston drew 0-0 away from home at Watford, a decent point but at this stage of the season, they need more. Before that, they lost 1-0 away from home against Birmingham but did win two in a row before that, beating Rotherham and Plymouth, both with a clean sheet attached.

I have said for a few weeks now, Huddersfield are going to survive this season and they took a big step towards that on Saturday, pulling themselves out of the relegation zone. They are now in 21st, with 43 points, which makes them one point clear of two sides below them who are chasing them down.

With points in three of their last four games, Huddersfield are on a roll, at a time that every point matters. They won in the last minute of the game against Millwall on Saturday, digging deep to win in dramatic fashion. Before that, they've taken points from Stoke and Rotherham, both away from home, in good draws.

A big game for both sides here, with three incredibly crucial points at stake. I am going to go down on the side of Huddersfield here, backing them on the double chance market to get something from the game. My bet is Huddersfield to win or draw the game at Preston.
