Ipswich vs Huddersfield Prediction (04.05.2024)

Ipswich can almost touch the Premier League, and they can get their hands on automatic promotion on Saturday. A point or more from this game with Huddersfield will do, and will also relegate Huddersfield to League One. Should Ipswich fail to get anything, they are promoted if Leeds draw or lose, but would go into the playoffs if Leeds win.

Ipswich are on the verge of back to back promotions and a return to the Premier League. After failing to get over the line for their past few games, they won on Tuesday night, a huge three points to create a gap between them and Leeds. Any point from this game would be enough to guarantee automatic promotion.

That 2-1 success over Coventry was huge, and what Ipswich deserved. They've been on the edge, drawing games, but got a win when it was needed. They take on the team who some would say are playing the worst in the division right now in Huddersfield, but they do need to remember, the job is not done yet.

Huddersfield can technically still stay up, but are essentially down, given the goal difference they have to try and claw back on Plymouth and Birmingham. It would need a big Huddersfield win, and big defeats elsewhere, for them to have a remote chance of staying up, and even then, it may not be enough.

Huddersfield have been terrible recently, while those around them have been playing a lot better, and picking up points. It is now no win in their last four games, with the most recent being the final hammer blow. They drew 1-1 at home to Birmingham, a relegation rival, a missed opportunity to give them hope. Before that, they lost 4-0 at home to Swansea, drew 1-1 with Bristol City and lost 4-1 at Preston, the form on offer is far from inspiring.

A big game for both, and I think we will see Ipswich gain automatic promotion with a big win, and relegate Huddersfield in the process. I'll take Ipswich on the Asian handicap line to win by two goals or more here.
