The Major League Soccer season is in full swing now as we continue to march through the month of May. While leagues across Europe may be starting to wind down, things are only just picking up across North America as teams up and down the MLS strive to make an impact. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Sporting Kansas City and Houston Dynamo.
Kansas City Form GuideSporting Kansas City tend to fit into the ‘there or thereabouts’ stereotype as a football club. They’re good enough to mix it up in the playoffs, but there are always a handful of teams ready to push past them once we get to the business end. With that being said, they went on a really impressive run in the post-season last year, and that should give them plenty of confidence.
Kansas City went on the road to battle Salt Lake last weekend and it wasn’t the most entertaining of games - and at the same time, Sporting didn’t bring out their usual intensity that we’ve become used to seeing. Because of that, they wound up on tee wrong end of a 1-0 defeat.
Houston Form GuideHouston Dynamo had a pretty strong end to the season last year and as such, were able to vault their way to fourth spot. In their three-game series with Real Salt Lake, they were taken to penalties on two occasions. They came out on top, went on to defeat Kansas City in the conference semi-finals, and ultimately ran out of gas in a 2-0 defeat to Los Angeles FC.
Houston vs St Louis was expected to be a bit of a barnburner from an outsider’s perspective but for whatever reason, neither side could get things going. In the end, the game finished in a 0-0 draw, and there’s a lot to reflect on from that.
Match PredictionKansas City and Houston are both harbouring hopes of a place in the playoffs, and we do think they’ve got the talent necessary to make it happen. On the flip side, one is very good at attacking and one is very good at defending. Therefore, logic dictates we’re going to see under 2.5 goals scored.
