It's the FA Cup second round this weekend, with a bunch of teams that know one win here, will take them into the third round of the competition, and a potential tie against one of the big boys from the Premier League. In this clash, we have League One Oxford United hosting League Two Grimsby Town.
Oxford United Form GuideGoing well at the top of League One, after their draw on Tuesday night, Oxford are in third position in the table. But they were in the top two recently, however a managerial change at the club, with Des Buckingham coming in to replace Liam Manning, who has moved up to manage Bristol City.
In the last two games, we've not seen Oxford at their normal best, I think it's going to take them a few weeks to settle here, and that could leave them vulnerable in a cup game. To get here, Oxford win 2-0 at home to non league Maidenhead United in what was a comfortable afternoon for them.
Grimsby Town Form GuideGrimsby Town haven't been really firing this season in League Two, and that's seen them stay in the bottom half, they head into the weekend in 20th position, with just four wins on the board from 20 games. Five points clear of the relegation places, if things don't improve quickly, they'll be looking over their shoulder, but they do have new boss David Artell in the club, to try and turn things around.
They are unbeaten in four league games, which is a positive but have drawn the last three of those, the most recent being a 1-1 draw away at MK Dons. In the FA Cup first round, they were held by Slough Town 1-1 away, but made no mistake on their return home, winning the replay 7-2.
Match PredictionI think Grimsby might be able to take advantage of Oxford and get something here. The home side are in transition, going through a reset, so I will back Grimsby on the double chance market, covering them to win the game, or them to get a draw.
