On Sunday evening, Valencia and Girona clash at the Mestalla in gameweek 37 of La Liga.
Valencia’s European dream is now overWith a recent collapse in form in the Spanish top-flight, Los Che find themselves unable to qualify for Europe as they head into this gameweek 37 encounter.
Last time out, Ruben Baraja’s team suffered a 1-0 defeat at Real Sociedad. The defeat means that Valencia are winless in their previous five games, having suffered four defeats and picked up just one draw.
Los Che’s biggest problem recently has been a lack of goals, as they have failed to score in three Liga games.
Valencia’s usually solid La Liga form at the Mestalla has also seemingly deserted them, as they are winless in four home games in the Spanish top-flight.
Once again, a lack of goals has been at the heart of their poor recent home form. They have scored just once in their previous four home games in La Liga.
Girona look to be running out of steamThe Catalan team has experienced an excellent campaign in the Spanish top flight.
They sit third in the table and have already secured Champions League football for next season, four points off second-place Barcelona, and two points clear of fourth-place Atletico Madrid.
However, in the last few games, there have been signs that the visitors may well now be running out of steam. Michel’s team are winless in two La Liga games after a shock 1-0 home defeat by Villarreal. They have also won just three of their last six games in the Spanish top flight.
Girona has now also won just once in their previous seven away games in La Liga, having suffered five defeats.
What am I backing? Both teams’ recent results haven’t been great, so neither will head into this encounter high on confidence. It could be an even encounter, so I am backing the draw.
