On Tuesday night, Atletico Madrid and Getafe go head-to-head at the Civitas Metropolitano in a capital derby in La Liga.
Atletico Madrid form guideThe club from the Spanish capital suffered a 2-0 defeat at Athletic Club last time out. The defeat came on the back of two straight wins against Almeria and Lazio.
The defeat against the boys from Bilbao continued a highly inconsistent run of form in La Liga, as they have now won three and lost three of their last six outings in the Spanish top flight.
The poor form has left Atletico in fourth place in the standings, eight points adrift of league leaders Girona and just two points clear of Athletic Club in the race for fourth.
Their recent games have been low-scoring, as there have been under 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games.
Despite their recent inconsistent form in La Liga, Atletico have an outstanding recent home record at the Metropolitano, having recorded 17 consecutive home league wins.
Getafe form guideThe visitors head to their city rivals on the back of a strong recent run of form. A 3-0 win at Sevilla last time out in the Spanish top-flight means that Getafe have won four of their last five matches in all competitions. They have also won three of their previous four games in La Liga.
The recent decent run of form has moved Jose Bordalas’ team up to eighth place in the table, five points off the league’s top six.
Getafe’s recent away form has been poor, as they have won just one of their last ten away games in La Liga. However, that win came in the victory at Sevilla in their previous away game in the Spanish top-flight.
What am I backing? This could be a relatively tight game. However, the bet I am backing is a narrow home win, as Atletico are just so formidable on home soil.
