The Euro 2024 quarter finals get underway on Friday evening, and the first of those to take place is this clash, where Spain take on Germany. It's the first, but it could also be the best, these two teams have excelled so far, and given us some very enjoyable moments in the tournament, so we could be in for a classic here.

Spain have been excellent in the tournament, they got through a tough group with both Italy and Croatia in there, and then dominated Georgia in the round of 16. Their strength is definitely attacking play, and to specify more, attacking from wide areas, where they have quality to cause anyone problems.

If there's a weakness, then I don't think they are great defensively. We've seen them come under pressure at the back against pretty much every team they've played so far. That includes Georgia, who actually scored first in that game. For now, Spain have been able to score their way out of trouble, and while it's working, I don't see them deciding to change their focus from that.

Germany have been riding a wave of support as the home nation here, but don't let that fool you, they are playing some very good football, and not just living off being the home side. They've done better than expected, and look like one of the better teams in the tournament going forward, with plenty of attacking talent that can find the back of the net.

They won against Denmark in the round of 16, leaving it until fairly late in the game, but eventually getting over the line. With two wins and a draw in the group stage, they've now won three out of four games, and look as though they could have a little more to come, which will be needed when they come up against a better side like they are here.

I think this is going to be a cracking game, with plenty of chances for both sides. They've both shown an eye for goal, and rather than trying to work out a winner here, I think the best bet is to stick with goals. I will go with both teams to score in this one, a game where I think we will see plenty of goalscoring chances created.
