Greece vs France Prediction (21.11.2023)

We’re back with the final international break of 2023 as we continue down the road to UEFA Euro 2024. It’s safe to say that things are really starting to heat up in pretty much every group as nations qualify and make their push to reach the playoffs. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing battle between Greece and France.

Everyone remembers Greece for their famous triumph back at Euro 2004 and now, 20 years later, they seem ready and prepared to try and make another run to the big time. We don’t mean actually winning it, of course, because that would be an even bigger miracle than it was two decades ago, but qualifying is going to be a big target given that they haven’t managed it in their last two attempts.

The Greeks have won three of their last four games, but the 1-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of the Netherlands really did set them back quite substantially. From there, they took on New Zealand, picking up a 2-0 friendly win ahead of their likely playoff venture.

Les Bleus fought hard to keep hold of their position as world champions but in Qatar, they wound up falling at the final hurdle. The next step in their journey takes them to the Euros, a competition that hasn’t been great to them in recent years. They still have one of the best squads in world football, though, so you can imagine they’ll be feeling somewhat confident.

The French were able to pick up nice wins over the Netherlands and Scotland last month, but they did the most damage over the weekend when they took on Gibraltar. In an absolute thumping, they were able to secure a dominant 14-0 win.

At this point, it feels like the 2018 world champions are just showing off. They are far and away one of the best teams on the planet and although Greece will put up a fight, it isn’t going to mean much when push comes to shove, which is why we’re predicting a France win.
