Club Brugge KV vs Fiorentina Prediction (08.05.2024)

The first of two Europa Conference League semi finals will come to a close on Wednesday night, as Club Brugge host Fiorentina in their second leg game. These two put on a great game for the first leg, and I am expecting more of the same here, both sides will come into this one fancying their chances of reaching the final.

A red card with half an hour to play really hampered Club Brugge last week in the first leg, they'll not want any disciplinary problems here, and if they don't, then they definitely have a chance to turn around this game. I though they played well last week, defending a lot, soaking up pressure, but also making the most of the few opportunities they did get.

A last minute winner for Fiorentina has given them a 3-2 lead here, but they didn't take many of their chances well. That goal could also leave them wondering how to play this, they have something to defend, whereas I think Club Brugge will attack from the off, and look to use home advantage.

Fiorenina hold a one goal lead coming here, I think they can play a little better than what we saw last week, and also think they will need to. They were wasteful with chances last week, 31 shot in total, 10 shots on target, and just three goals. Many of those were speculative efforts, but they won't get as many here, so need to be better with what they do get.

What they also did last week was dominate a lot of the ball. Yes, some of that came after the red card, so they had a man advantage, but if they can repeat that, it allows Fiorentina to dictate the pace of the game, and try to prevent Brugge from coming at them, wave after wave.

I think this will be a really good close game, and both sides will have a chance to win it. I am going to side with Club Brugge to get the win in 90 minutes here. They soaked up pressure last week, should see more of the ball this week, and were much more clinical with their chances, which can help again here.
