It's the final day of the Serie A season, and we've got a few games that have something to play for, while for others, there's nothing to play for. Technically, Cagliari have something to play for here, but to get relegated, it would have to be the unlikeliest of scenarios, with a number of teams all winning, and Cagliari losing, plus a goal difference swing. For that reason, I'm happy to say they're surviving, while away side Fiorentina have a game left after this one, due to Europe, but are very unlikely to move up in the standings, and if they do, it can only be by one place.
Cagliari Form GuideDepending on how you look at the Cagliari season, you will either be happy with the last couple of months, or upset at what happened at the start of the season. Recently, when needing points, they've looked much better, and been picking up some good wins, which have ultimately led them to the position they're in now.
But they didn't show that earlier in the year, had they done so, they may have never found themselves in the position they've been in. Again, when they needed something, they got it, last weekend. A huge three points from a 2-0 away win at Sassuolo, relegating them and putting Cagliari in an almost uncatchable position.
Fiorentina Form GuideWith little chance to move around in the standings, I think Fiorentina will be happy to bypass this game, as they've got a huge one on the horizon. They play in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them rest players ahead of that, as of course, it's much more important.
Fiorentina come here on the back of a 2-2 tie at home to Napoli last Friday, and don't forget, they are one of the two teams that have a game left to play after this, next weekend against Atalanta. But I think all eyes within the club, rightly or wrongly, will be on Wednesday night's game.
Match PredictionThe final day for Cagliari, two more to go for Fiorentina, including a huge one. For that reason, I think Cagliari offer really good value here for the win, it would be no surprise if Fiorentina were a little distracted, so I'll take the home team to bag three points.
