Fenerbahce vs Olympiakos Piraeus Prediction (18.04.2024)

Fenerbahce and Olympiakos put on the tie of the round in the first leg of their Europa Conference League clash, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them do it again with their second leg. It's set up brilliantly, Olympiakos are 3-2 ahead on aggregate but Fenerbahce have home advantage now, it's all to play for.

Last week was great, it was end to end, the two teams were evenly matched and they both went out with a genuine aim to win the game, there was no being defensive. That's especially positive for Fenerbahce, who could easily have been a little more reserved, as they were the away team. They had more possession, and a little more control too, I thought, I'm looking forward to seeing how they go for it at home.

They played at the weekend domestically, and won narrowly 2-1 away from home. But now attentions turn back to this competition, and a game that Fenerbahce must win, if they are to reach the semi finals.

Olympiakos did what they needed to in the first leg and got the win. They're only one goal in front, so it's not over by any stretch, but they do have something to hang onto. Given how they played last week, and how the game played out as a whole, I think there's every reason to expect another wide open game here, I don't think Olympiakos will sit back and defend what they have.

The good news for Olympiakos is that they come here fresh, after not playing at the weekend. At this time of the season, that can be a real advantage, and especially when you consider that this is likely to be an attacking game that goes from end to end.

I think this will be a really good game to watch, and once again, I expect it to be open with plenty of chances. But after going so well away from home in the first leg, I have to side with Fenerbahce here, who did well last week, and with home advantage here, I think they can go even better, win the game and win the tie overall.
