The Turkish Super Lig returns once again this weekend as we continue to march through the winter months. There’s a clear picture beginning to form at both ends of the table as all 20 clubs attempt to build some momentum before we enter the final third of the season. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun clash between Ankaragucu and Fatih Karagumruk.
Ankaragucu Form GuideAnkaragucu, originating from the namesake city, are a multi-sport club that operate in many different fields away from football. On the pitch, though, they’re currently seen as a midtable Super Lig side, which isn’t a bad place to be in. You obviously can’t afford to relax too much at this level but in equal measure, you have to praise their consistency in recent times.
Adana Demirspor and Ankaragucu are two pretty evenly matched teams, and it’s not exactly revolutionary to suggest that. In this clash, they fell behind in the 52nd minute courtesy of Emre Akbaba - but after a Pedrinho equaliser, the game fizzled out to a 1-1 draw.
Fatih Karagumruk Form GuideFor the last few years, Fatih Karagumruk have spent their time back at the top table in the Super Lig. Last season, they were able to finish in 7th, which they were hoping would give them a great platform to build off of - but that hasn’t quite been the case. Now, they’re attempting to fend off the threat of relegation, and there’s no guarantee whatsoever that they’ll achieve that goal.
After going 1-0 down to Istanbul Basaksehir, things didn’t look great for Fatih Karagumruk. They looked even worse when they went down to ten men in the 76th minute, but somehow, Salih Dursun was able to rescue a point just before injury time.
Match PredictionNeither of these sides are exactly flourishing right now, and it feels like there’s a very real possibility that they could drop a poor performance in this one. We hope that we’re way off, but our official prediction will in fact be a draw.
