There's a lot of games with plenty to play for this weekend in the Championship, it could be a big weekend of action, and this game is one of those. Stoke are the home side, currently just above the relegation zone, and they take on Coventry, a team just inside of the top six, and aiming for the playoffs.
Stoke City Form GuideWhen Stoke brought in Steven Schumacher from Plymouth, I expected him to turn them around slightly. They're still not a great side, but I thought he'd guide them safe of the relegation zone, something that hasn't really materialised yet. They dome here in 19th place, and with 35 points, they are six ahead of QPR, who are in 22nd.
They won their last game, beating QPR 1-0, a massive result, otherwise things would have looked considerably worse for them. But before that win, it was dreadful, and that win came against a team who are in the relegation zone for a reason. Before that, Stoke lost four games in a row, and looked poor throughout most of them.
Coventry City Form GuideAfter quite a turn around, Coventry head into the weekend in a playoff spot, something they've had for a couple of weeks now. It's a far cry from the start of their season, when the hangover from Wembley defeat last season was clearly evident. But this team has hit stride, and are doing so at a great time of the season for them.
With 48 points, they're in 6th, but only on goal difference, three teams below them also have 48, with another one on 47, showing just how tight this run currently is. Coventry grabbed a last minute equaliser on Wednesday night to earn the point that kept them in the playoffs, drawing 2-2 away from home against Plymouth.
Match PredictionA big game at both ends, and while Stoke are the team coming here on the back of a win in midweek, I think it's Coventry that take the three points from this game. They're on the march, the same cannot be said about Stoke, who continue to struggle against good sides, so it's a Coventry win for me here.
