Straight off their Wembley heartbreak, Coventry City are back in Championship action on Wednesday. This is going to be a difficult night for them, but they have to switch back on if they want to keep in the playoff battle. They host Hull in this one, a side one place above them and also in the same battle.
Coventry Form GuideCoventry were excellent at the end of their FA Cup semi final against Manchester United. 3-0 down, they never gave up, pulling it back to 3-3 and then looked the better side in extra time, before ultimately losing the tie on penalties. But the question we all have to ask is how much has that taken out of them, and what more do they have to give in their final games of the season.
In the league, they've lost their last two games, and you have to wonder whether the FA Cup has been a distraction in that. They lost 3-0 away at Birmingham last time, and before that, lost 2-1 away at Southampton. They're better than that, if they can get in the right frame of mind to tackle these last games.
Hull City Form GuideOne place above Coventry, three points ahead of them and six points outside of the playoffs, you will find 7th placed Hull. They've got a game in hand on Norwich so that gap could be three points, but things are slipping away with just three games to go for them.
They come here on a four game unbeaten run, with two wins and two draws in that period. They drew at the weekend, a 0-0 tie away at Watford, a game they really needed to win. Middlesbrough is the other team they've drawn with recently, while they have landed wins over QPR and Cardiff to keep their hopes up.
Match PredictionI'm not sure of the mindset that Coventry are going to be in, they've got a big disappointment to try and get over quickly. With that in mind, I will take Hull on the double chance market here, covering them to win the game or it to end in a draw.
