Blackburn Rovers have two games left to secure their Championship status for next season and they welcome Coventry to Ewood Park for the first of those. Coventry have been distracted by the FA Cup it seems, and have lost three straight in the league, a run that has left them out of the playoff battle as they head into the final week of the season.
Blackburn Form GuideBlackburn have 49 points on the board, and are in 19th, which I don't think will be enough to get safe. They are three ahead of Birmingham in 22nd, who are in the relegation zone, so there is still work to do. That work could have been done last weekend, but Blackburn put up a dismal performance against a relegation rival.
Blackburn lost 3-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, pulling Wednesday out of the bottom three and keeping Blackburn involved. It was a pretty poor display, lacking quality and more importantly, fight, for most of the game, two things Wednesday showed. They did win before that though, a 1-0 away success at Leeds, a complete shock when it happened.
Coventry Form GuideThe FA Cup semi final saw Coventry fight back in style and take Manchester United to penalties, almost winning the tie in extra time, but for VAR. However, in terms of the league, that cup run has definitely distracted them from the playoffs, which they are now out of with three games to go.
The Sky Blues have lost their last three league games in a row. The most recent being a 3-2 home loss to Hull on Wednesday night. Before that, they lost 3-0 at Birmingham and 2-1 at Southampton in the days before the semi final. They're a good side, one that I like a lot, but I do get the feeling that they've had the stuffing knocked out of them in recent weeks.
Match PredictionWith Blackburn under pressure and Coventry feeling the effects of big games recently, the value here looks to be with the two teams splitting the points. I will take a draw in this one at a nice price.
