Birmingham vs Coventry Prediction (13.04.2024)

11 games take place on Saturday from the Championship, and as we approach the end of the season, there's a lot to keep an eye on. This game sees Birmingham hosting Coventry, and not only is this a game putting together two local sides, but both are desperate for points, with Birmingham looking to climb out of the relegation zone, and Coventry looking to get in the playoff places.

Birmingham dropped into the relegation zone last week, and they are commpletely devoid of any form right now. Four games remain for them to retain their status in the Championship, and it's not going to be easy. Gary Rowett is the man tasked with doing that, after a huge turning point in their season when Tony Mowbray had to step away from football due to health reasons.

They have just three points from their last five games, with one win and four defeats. They lost 1-0 at home to Cardiff in midweek, and lost 2-1 away at Leicester last weekend. Both sides are decent, but regardless of the opposition, Birmingham need points on the board before it's too late. The good news is they have plenty to aim for, there's a whole host of teams still involved in this.

The playoffs are still a possibility for Coventry, they are in 7th, five points off Norwich in 6th but with a game in hand. Win that, and it becomes two points, but with only five total games left, time is running out. They have lost two of of their last three though, and have an FA Cup semi final next weekend, which is great for the club, but they can't allow that to stop their focus on the league.

Coventry were beaten 2-1 at Southampton during midweek, and their other loss in recent games was a 2-1 home defeat against Cardiff. In the middle of that, they won at home to Leeds, much more like it, but we need to see even more of that, with five games to go, Coventry have a chance, but they need to execute.

Both sides come here in need of points. Coventry have not been at their best recently, but I will take them to win this. There's plenty against Birmingham right now, and I think they fall to defeat here.
