Corinthians - Gremio Tip 19-09-2023

In the early hours of Tuesday, Corinthians and Gremio go head-to-head at the Neo Quimica Arena as both teams look to return to winning ways in Serie A.

The home team are in a strange midtable limbo, as although they are just three points adrift of the Copa Sudamericana spots, they are also only five points clear of the relegation zone in the Brazilian top flight.

A recent five-game unbeaten run in all competitions ended with a 2-1 defeat at Fortaleza last time out. The game also ended a run of low-scoring encounters for the home team, as their previous six games had all produced under 2.5 goals.

The draw against Fortaleza means that Corinthians have failed to win in their last four games in the Brazilian top-flight.

One positive for Corinthians is that they have been difficult to beat on home soil in Serie A, as they have lost just one of their previous ten league games in front of their own supporters.

The visitors currently sit in third place in the Serie A table but are level on points with Flamengo and RB Bragantino, only above the pair courtesy of winning more league games this season.

A 2-0 defeat at RB Bragantino last time out ended a short two-game winning run for Gremio while continuing a recent inconsistent run, as they have won three and lost three of their previous six matches in all competitions, with the same record in Serie A.

Their recent outings in the Brazilian top flight have been relatively low-scoring affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their previous nine matches.

Gremio have not been great travellers of late in Serie A, as they are winless in their previous four away games in the Brazilian top-flight.

Neither of these teams has been pulling up trees of late. I can see this being a relatively even game. The bet I am backing is under 2.5 goals scored.
