The Major League Soccer season is in full swing as both conferences begin to plot their route to MLS Cup glory. It’s going to be a long road for them to get there but with the league being as competitive as it’s ever been, there’s a real opportunity for teams to step up and make a name for themselves. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas.
Colorado Form GuideLast season, the wooden spoon in the West went to Colorado. The Rapids only managed to win five games all season long and while they do have a few highlight reel players to brag about, that doesn’t mean much when you have no consistency or general ideology to speak of. They have a lot of work to do, and that much is an understatement.
Colorado’s only defeat in their last six games was a 1-0 loss at home to Houston. Outside of that, they picked up a point on the road in draws with Seattle and Miami, alongside big wins over Salt Lake, Los Angeles and, most recently, San Jose.
Dallas Form GuideDallas edged their way into the playoffs and finished in seventh spot in the Western Conference - with some arguing they didn’t belong there based on the campaign as a whole. In the playoffs, in all fairness, they did well to take Seattle to a third game in their best of three series - but they came up on the losing end. Now, it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back.
Dallas endured a miserable March as they lost four games on the bounce to Montreal, NY Red Bulls, Vancouver and Austin. They have, however, broken that streak recently, drawing 0-0 with St Louis and Seattle.
Match PredictionDallas are a fascinating team to watch, in the sense that you never know what they’re going to do from game to game. On the flip side, while they may be erratic in their own right, we’d like to think Colorado are starting to piece it all together - which is why we’re backing them to win this game.
