The Premier League is really up and running in 2024 as we prepare for a scintillating five months of action in the second half of the season. There’s still a lot to play for as we kick on through January and with the transfer window now being open, anything is possible. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an entertaining clash between Chelsea and Fulham.
Chelsea Form GuideWell, it’s official: Chelsea are in turmoil once again. Mauricio Pochettino was seen as the man who could help turn things around and while that may still be true, their inconsistency speaks for itself. They have the quality necessary to cause teams problems across the pitch but they lack any kind of real cohesion, and it’ll be fascinating to see how they deal with the mounting pressure.
Following defeat to Wolves, Chelsea picked up three big wins over Crystal Palace, Luton and Preston. Then, in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final, they were stunned by Middlesbrough in a 1-0 defeat as their struggles persist.
Fulham Form GuideFulham Football Club no longer wants to be identified as a yo-yo team and after managing to stay up last season, they’re doing well to get rid of that title. Of course, we all know about the stress of second season syndrome, and the Cottagers will want to avoid a relegation scrap by any means necessary. For now, they aren’t in too much peril, but it’s a fine line at this level.
After knocking Everton out of the League Cup on penalties, Fulham lost to Burnley and Bournemouth in quick succession. Then, in two big ‘bounce back’ games, they defeated Arsenal on New Year’s Eve before overcoming Rotherham in the FA Cup.
Match PredictionBoth teams have a lot on their plates right now and we’re intrigued to see how this derby day goes. We think it’s going to be scrappy without too many chances flying in at both ends of the pitch, and in terms of a final result, we’re going to shoot for a draw.
