Major League Soccer is back in our lives for yet another season of action across North America. We’re in the early stages of the new campaign but there’s already so much to get excited about from West to East, as the majority of teams gear up for a hopeful run to the MLS Cup. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what promises to be an intriguing clash between Nashville SC and Charlotte FC.
Nashville Form GuideNashville, for the longest time, were really pushing the tempo towards the top of the Eastern Conference - until they fell away massively. They wound up finishing 7th in the division and, to the surprise of nobody, went out of the playoffs pretty quickly at the hands of Orlando City. At this point, it’ll be interesting to see how they’ve been able to rebound from that disappointment.
Nashville and LA Galaxy played out a thrilling game last weekend that really brought out the best in both of these teams. In the end, nobody walked away with all three points, as the end result came in at an honourable 2-2 draw.
Charlotte Form GuideAs an expansion team, it’s hard for fans to expect all too much from Charlotte in their first few years of existence. It’s all about establishing themselves and when you consider that they probably don’t have the same kind of financial platform as other newcomers to the league, it becomes clear why they’re struggling. Still, they aren’t the worst team in the East, and they can often be enjoyable to watch.
Charlotte did a solid job of holding Toronto at bay for long spells of their game last weekend but for whatever reason, they just couldn’t keep it going until the full time whistle, with Insigne’s 80th minute goal condemning them to a 1-0 defeat.
Match PredictionNashville and Charlotte both have the potential to do some interesting things in the MLS this season, but they aren’t quite at the point where they are free-flowing in front of goal. In our view, therefore, the most likely outcome of this game is under 2.5 goals scored.
