Friday night’s game in La Liga sees a crucial bottom-of-the-table clash as Celta Vigo and Almeria go head-to-head at the Balaidos.
Celta are still in a perilous position after a draw against CadizThe Galicians are still fighting for survival in La Liga after a 2-2 at fellow strugglers Cadiz last time out. The result means that Celta won just once in their previous seven games in the Spanish top-flight.
Their recent league outings have at least produced goals, with over 2.5 goals scored in their last four matches in La Liga.
Celta will still be looking over their shoulders nervously at the league’s bottom three, as Rafa Benitez’s team is currently in 17th place in the Spanish top-flight table, three points above the relegation zone.
Los Celeste’s recent home record is not a good one, as they have now lost three straight La Liga games at Balaidos. However, those three losses were against top-seven opposition in Real Sociedad, Girona and Barcelona.
Almeria is still searching for that elusive La Liga winThe visitors picked up a highly creditable 2-2 home draw with Atletico Madrid last time out. The game was their third straight draw in the Spanish top flight.
However, they remain winless in La Liga this season, a run which stretches 29 Liga games back to last season.
Unsurprisingly, considering the lack of wins this season, Almeria has been cut adrift at the bottom of the table, as they are now 12 points from the safety of 17th place.
As you would expect from a team struggling for wins, Almeria’s recent away record is poor. They are winless in the previous 17 Liga games on their travels, including picking up just three draws and suffering 14 defeats.
What am I backing? It’s hard to back either team for a win in this one. However, both sides have been involved in pretty high-scoring games of late, so the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals.
