Playoff semi finalists last season, Sunderland, are expected to at least replicate that this season. But two defeats from their first two games, left people wondering. However, they've now picked up and look very impressive, they look to continue that here when they welcome Cardiff to the Stadium Of Light.Sunderland Form Guide
The start to the season for Sunderland was a real concern, but it is fair to say that it's now been completely forgotten. They have won four and drawn one of their last five games, after those two defeats, and finally, we are definitely seeing the true version of this team, the one that genuinely could become a Premier League team.
Of that run, they've won their last three games, and they've all been impressive performances. They've won away from home 3-1 in both of their last two games, beating Blackburn during midweek and QPR last weekend. Before that, they announced themselves with a bang, a 5-0 home win over promotions fancies, Southampton, a real statement win.Cardiff Form Guide
Up in 10th position, there will be some people out there who believe that Cardiff have turned a corner. I'm not so sure myself, but there is no doubt they've been better recently. The question for me though is around who they have beaten recently, and where they have beaten them, both of those are against them in this game.
Three wins from seven overall, they've all come inside their last four games. All three have been at home, and they've come against Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea and Coventry. All those sides are struggling right now, in particular the first two, so while I respect Cardiff for moving up the table, they've done it all at home, and had a nice run of fixtures.Match Prediction
I love what Sunderland are now showing us, they look the real deal, and I am going to back them to continue that here, with a victory over Cardiff. Yes, the away side have won three recently, but they've struggled away, and this is a massive step up in quality of opposition.
