Cardiff host Middlesbrough on Saturday in the Championship, and it's one of a few games where both teams come into it with nothing to play for other than pride. Both have fallen away from the playoff race, but a top 10 finish is still on for those who take most points from their last two games, the first of which is this one.
Cardiff Form GuideCardiff dropped away from the playoffs a little earlier than Middlesbrough did, but they've managed to keep up a fairly decent run of form. They come here on the back of three wins and two defeats in their last five, which is more than acceptable, and generally, have been performing well overall. This has the potential to end with a top 10 spot for them, which I'm sure fans will be really happy with.
They come here on the back of a win last weekend, and it was a dramatic one too. They won 2-1 at home to Southampton, scoring in the final minute of the game to win that. Birmingham and Coventry are the other two teams they have beaten recently, while they've suffered defeats to Millwall away from home and Hull at home.
Middlesbrough Form GuideIt was only a couple of weeks ago that Middlesbrough fell out of the promotion race but since then, I do think they look a little like a team that are suffering and feeling sorry for themselves. After falling out, they've gone three games without a win, a defeat most recently and two draws before that.
The defeat was a thriller on Monday night, losing 4-3 at home to Leeds, who are battling for the automatic promotion spots. Before that, they drew with Ipswich and Hull, both away from home, meaning they just failed to keep themselves in the playoff run. It's been an up and down season for Boro, so no surprise they are feeling a little down.
Match PredictionI think the value here all lies with Cardiff, they look a big price to win this game. With home advantage, and a continued run of good form, I will take them to win this game and potentially jump inside the top 10.
