Six Championship games take place on Wednesday evening and one of those sees Birmingham in action, a team that are in the relegation battle and at the weekend, dropped into the bottom three. They've got five games to go starting here, and desperately need something from this game. Cardiff are the visitors to St Andrews, a side in mid table with little to play for.
Birmingham Form GuideIt's been pretty desperate for Birmingham, though also unlucky, with health issues to manager Tony Mowbray meaning he has to take leave from the team. Gary Rowett is now in charge, but he's in the bottom three. Birmingham have 42 points, the same as Sheffield Wednesday below them, and one off Huddersfield who are above and outside of the relegation zone as things stand.
A narrow 2-1 defeat away at Leicester on Saturday saw Birmingham drop into the bottom three. Before that, they did pick up a win, with a 1-0 home success against Preston, however, that is the only game they have won in their last nine, which is why they're in the position they currently are, and in need of points desperately.
Cardiff Form GuideMid table with little to play for, Cardiff are cruising towards the end of the season. They have 56 points and are in 11th position to start the week. It's been a strong season overall, and finishing in the middle of the pack would be seen as a positive for them, I believe.
They come here on the back of two wins and three defeats in their last five games. Most recently, they suffered defeat at the weekend, losing 3-1 at home to Hull, who are just above them in the table. They've recorded wins over Coventry, who are chasing the playoffs, and Ipswich, who are chasing automatic promotion, recently, so it's not been all bad.
Match PredictionWhile Birmingham are the team with something to play for here, I think the value is all with Cardiff. I am backing the away side on the double chance market, covering them to win the game or for it to end in a draw.
