Cagliari vs Salernitana Prediction (09.03.2024)

Four games take place in Serie A on Saturday, and the second to kick off is a big relegation game. Cagliari, currently in 18th, in the bottom three, take on Salernitana, the team in 20th, bottom of the league, and they are becoming more and more desperate each week.

Still in the bottom three, but coming here on the back of a huge win last weekend, Cagliari are on the verge of climbing out of danger. But with 11 games to go, there's a lot of points to play for, and a lot is going to change I am sure, but a win here would of course make things a whole lot better for Cagliari.

It's not just a win they come here on the back of, Cagliari are unbeaten in their last three games. The win came against Empoli, while the draws before that were against Napoli and Udinese. Keep up that form, and I think they can get out and survive this season.

Salernitana are rock bottom in the Serie A standings, with just two wins from 27 games in what has been a really poor campaign. They have just 14 points, which means they are nine points away from safety, and you get the feeling that if they don't win in the next game or two, then it's all but over for them.

They did pick up a point last weekend, with a 1-1 away draw against Udinese, a team just on the edge of the drop zone. Before that, Monza, Inter and Empoli all won with ease against Salernitana, and based on those games, there is little or no hope for this team to survive.

A big game at the bottom, and one where I think Cagliari have a decent chance of taking three points. They are getting points, playing to a fair level and that's in comparison to Salernitana, who look lost. I'll take the home side to win all three points here.
