The second game of the day in Serie A on Sunday features a side in the relegation zone, and that is Cagliari. They're on 19 points, so close enough to get out of the relegation zone this weekend if things go their way. However, they are not going to have it easy, without a win in a while, and taking on Napoli, who being the weekend in 9th position.
Cagliari Form GuideIn 19th position, Cagliari are in the thick of the relegation battle, and currently in great danger. But it's tight, I think we have two spots to play for, and probably six teams involved, maybe seven, so if anyone can go on a run and pick up points, then I think they will get out and survive.
But it's not five games without a win for Cagliari, so they aren't really doing anything to prove they can stay up. Last weekend they drew 1-1 at Udinese, fellow relegation candidates, before that, four losses in a row, against Lazio, Roma, Torino and Frosinone, so it certainly hasn't been great.
Napoli Form GuideA strange season is probably the best word to describe Napoli so far. Below expectations, for sure, but they've been good enough to remain in the top six hunt, five points behind as we start the weekend, though I think the top four is going to prove too much for them, they're nine off Atalanta in 4th.
Two wins, two draws, one loss in the last five, that sums up what they've been like really, decent, but inconsistent at the same time, not hammering home the quality they have on the field. They drew last weekend against Genoa in Serie A, and since then, have drawn 1-1 with Barcelona in their Champions League first leg game from the round of 16.
Match PredictionA big game for Cagliari, but I don't think they'll take anything here. I am backing Napoli to win, not at their best, but good enough to take this, and keep up their push to try and get in the top six this season.
