While Bristol City have had nothing to play for in a number of weeks now, Blackburn certainly have, and they're part way to completing the job. Beginning the week, they are four points clear of the bottom three, five games to go and while I think they will do it, there's a little more that needs to be done.
Bristol City Form GuideAnyone that has seen Bristol City play for the past six or eight weeks will have seen that they're playing with the freedom of a team that has nothing to play for. They've kept up their play though, they've not dropped off, but you can tell there is no pressure on their shoulders when they head into a game.
They've lost just once in their last five games, a nice run. West Brom were the team to beat them, a few weeks ago, but looking more recently, they drew 0-0 away at Sunderland on Saturday. That was a very typical game between two sides with nothing to play for, but elsewhere in the last five, Bristol City have beaten Plymouth, Leicester and Swansea.
Blackburn Rovers Form GuideWhen you're supporting a team near the bottom of the table, you want to see fight and your team grinding out whatever points they can find, and Blackburn are certainly doing that for their supporters right now. Since the arrival of John Eustace as new manager, they've been good, slowly working their way out of the trouble and while the football hasn't always been great to watch, it's effective right now for the situation they are in.
In their last 10 games, they've only won once, a negative, but they've added seven draws to that total, with just two defeats, and when you are in need of any points you can find, that becomes a positive. They drew 0-0 at home to Southampton on Saturday to get another point, and are on the verge of being safe.
Match PredictionWith Blackburn's need for a little more, and their tendency to draw games recently, the draw is again my pick here. I can see them coming to this one and playing to win another point, which they can have success with.
