The Premier League is back once again this weekend as we head into a month that could prove to be a defining one for many fans of teams in English football’s top flight - December. There are a whole lot of games to cover in the weeks ahead and today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a fun encounter between Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Chelsea Form GuideChelsea Football Club went through the definition of turmoil last season. The Blues simply were not at the races for most of the campaign, and it showed both on and off the pitch. Now, they’ve had the summer to regroup and take a look at where things went wrong, with the hope being that Mauricio Pochettino is the saviour they’ve been clamouring for over the last few years.
Inconsistency continues to haunt and define Chelsea. In their last six games they’ve been able to beat Tottenham and Blackburn and draw with Arsenal and Manchester City, but they’ve also fallen to disappointing 2-0 and 4-1 losses against Brentford and Newcastle, respectively.
Brighton Form GuideWhile it must be said that Brighton have achieved some incredible things across the last twelve months, it’s also important to manage expectations from time to time. This is their first season managing both domestic football and Europe in unison with one another, and although they could end up smashing it out of the park, there’s definitely still room for growth.
After a 2-0 win over Ajax, Brighton only managed to pick up a point against Fulham and Everton. They did, however, beat Ajax in their UEL rematch, before another disappointing draw with Sheffield United. Thankfully for them, they got back in the win column last weekend against Nottingham Forest.
Match PredictionChelsea and Brighton have had many interactions both on and off the pitch in recent years and in terms of overall quality, we still think they’re pretty evenly matched. When they collide at Stamford Bridge, we think that’ll be on full display, with the end result being over 2.5 goals scored.
