The Premier League returns this weekend following the international break as we continue with the run-in toward the end of the campaign. There’s still plenty left to fight for at both ends of the table, and it feels like we’re going to get a few more answers over the course of the next few days. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Brentford and Manchester United.
Brentford Form GuideFor the first time since being promoted to the Premier League, it does feel as if there’s a bit of panic in the air at Brentford. As a club, they’re still being run very well, and they aren’t in any immediate danger when it comes to the relegation battle. At the same time, it only takes one bad run of form to lead you down the wrong path, and the Bees have shown some real weaknesses lately.
Brentford managed to pick up a point at home to Chelsea a few weeks back - but the bad news is that it was their only positive result across their last six games. In their other five outings, they’ve been handed defeats by Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham, Arsenal and Burnley.
Manchester United Form GuideManchester United supporters have spent the last decade experiencing brief moments of joy, but for the most part, their inconsistency has really hurt them on the pitch. Erik ten Hag is the latest manager to try and make a difference at Old Trafford, but there are still far more questions than answers for the Red Devils as we approach a critical few months for them.
Inconsistency is the key for Manchester United, as we’ve already noted. They beat Luton, then lost to Fulham. They beat Nottingham Forest, then lost to Manchester City. In their last two outings, however, they’ve enjoyed two big wins over Everton in the league and Liverpool in the cup.
Match PredictionBrentford will likely show signs of life in the early stages of this game but, as has happened on so many occasions, it just feels quite likely that they’re going to fall away in the final third. Because of that, we’re going to predict a Manchester United win, and we expect it to be fairly comfortable.
