The Premier League is back in our lives once again following the last two-week international break of the year. Over the course of the next month and a half, football fans are preparing for a barrage of fixtures coming our way from English football’s top flight as the Christmas period awaits. Today, we’ll be taking a look at a fun clash between Brentford and Arsenal.
Brentford Form GuideBrentford serve as a shining example of what is possible through the pyramid system. Very few neutrals expected them to come up, and even fewer would’ve expected them to still be residing at the top table. Alas, here they are, and they still look solid enough. They’ve made a handful of shrewd moves in the market, and it still feels like they can beat just about anyone on their best day.
Following a painful late defeat to Manchester United, Brentford rattled off three straight wins as they overcame Burnley, Chelsea and West Ham in quick succession. They did, however, get brought back down to earth in a humbling 3-0 loss away to Liverpool before the break.
Arsenal Form GuideArsenal came close to finally reaching the top of the mountain last season, only to fall short at the final hurdle. They simply couldn’t keep up with City in the title race, but this time around, they’ll be hopeful that they can go one step further. Mikel Arteta knows and understands the scale of the task that lies ahead of him, but he has a really strong foundation in place.
After nice wins over Sevilla and Sheffield United, Arsenal suffered defeats in both the cup and the league as they were beaten by West Ham and Newcastle. Since then, though, they’ve gotten back to their winning ways with another victory over Sevilla and a 3-1 win over Burnley.
Match PredictionArsenal are going to be the clear favourites here but it’s always exceptionally tricky going on the road against Brentford. They will use their physicality to really get in Arsenal’s face and regardless of what the result is, we expect there to be under 2.5 goals scored.
