Pendikspor vs Besiktas Prediction (20.01.2024)

Another week, another blockbuster set of fixtures from the Turkish Super Lig. It serves as one of the most intriguing top flights in all of football and as we look ahead to the second half of the campaign, there’s still a lot to get excited about at both ends of the table. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a thrilling encounter between Pendikspor and Besiktas.

When you think of the term minnows, you may want to think about Pendikspor. This is a club that has done phenomenally well to force their way into the big time, which they achieved by gaining promotion via the playoffs last season. They’ve struggled since then and they face an uphill battle if they want to survive, but given what they’ve already accomplished, anything is possible.

Pendikspor were in the definition of a tricky spot on Friday night as they went 2-0 down to Gaziantep on the road. Then, seemingly in the blink of an eye, they scored twice in a matter of minutes late in the game to salvage a point with a 2-2 draw.

For as long as we can remember, Besiktas have been one of the biggest names in town in Turkish football. They’ve had many, many European adventures against some of the biggest clubs on the continent, and they’ve been able to do that courtesy of domestic success. Now, the challenge for them is going to be getting back to a position of real prominence in their homeland.

After going 1-0 down at home to Kasimpasa, Besiktas did well to hit back with an equaliser just before half time. Unfortunately, this game was all about Nuno da Costa, as he raced away with a phenomenal hat-trick to his name in a 3-1 win for the visitors.

One thing we anticipate in this game is excitement. Both teams have the potential to do some serious damage in their own right and in a game of this magnitude, we do think they’ll put it all on the line. In our view, the most likely outcome for the game is over 2.5 goals scored.
