Mozambique vs Benin Prediction (09.09.2023)

On Saturday afternoon, Mozambique and Benin clash in a crucial gameweek six encounter in Group L of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations.

The home team are currently in control of their own destiny, as they know they only need a draw to book their place at AFCON 2024. Mozambique are currently in second place in the group, two points clear of their third-place opponents.

However, they are five points adrift of group leaders Senegal, who have already sealed their place at next year's tournament.

Despite being second-place in the group, Mozambique’s recent record in AFCON qualifying has been underwhelming, to say the least, as they have won just two of their previous ten qualifiers. Their most recent games in qualifying have lacked goals, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight qualifiers.

Benin has a poor recent away record in African Cup of Nations qualifying, as a 3-0 win in Rwanda in their previous away game ended an eight-game winless run on their travels.

There is very little between these teams, as neither has been in great form. I believe this will be an even contest. The bet I am backing is under 2.5 goals scored, as it could be a tight encounter.
