It’s time for another international break as the countdown to this summer’s UEFA Euro 2024 tournament truly begins across the continent. Some nations are gearing up for a big run, whereas others didn’t make the cut and simply want to rebuild ahead of World Cup qualifying. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be a pretty entertaining encounter between Ireland and Belgium.

Ireland is a proud nation across all sporting fronts and that much is obvious. They have been to the top of the mountain in so many different practices but within the realm of football, it still seems as if there’s work to be done. They need to restore that national pride within the squad itself and from there, trust in bright youngsters that are actually willing to give their heart and soul to the badge.

Following three straight defeats to France, Netherlands and Greece, Ireland bounced back with a comfortable 4-0 win over Gibraltar. They did go on to lose 1-0 to the Dutch, and in their most recent game, they could only manage a 1-1 draw against New Zealand.

Belgium’s golden generation is slowly devolving and, in reality, they only have one (or two) tournaments left with their current crop of players. There aren’t really any more excuses that can be thrown in their direction and after messing up in a big way at the World Cup, they have to rebound - and they need some of their big names to be the ones who drag them through this mess.

In their last six games, Belgium have conceded just two goals - in comparison to the 18 that they’ve scored. They have been able to defeat Estonia twice, Azerbaijan twice, Serbia and Austria in what has been a really solid run of form.

The Irish are starting to find a few potential stars here and there but at this moment in time, we just don’t believe they’re a genuine threat to any of the bigger nations. Because of that, we’re going to predict a Belgium win here, and we think it’ll be pretty comprehensive.
