Bayer Leverkusen vs Hertha Berlin Prediction (05.03.2023)

On Sunday afternoon, Bayer Leverkusen hosts Hertha Berlin at the BayArena, in a big game for the visitor's Bundesliga survival hopes.

Die Werkself’s recent form has been highly inconsistent, as Bayer has won just one of their previous four games in all competitions. Their record in the German top flight isn’t great either, winning one of their last five league matches while suffering three defeats.

Bayer’s recent poor form has left them in the limbo of 11th place in the Bundesliga, nine points clear of the relegation play-off and ten points adrift of the league’s European spots.

Xabi Alonso’s team has suffered back-to-back home defeats against Dortmund and Mainz in the Bundesliga, having won their previous three league games on home soil.

Despite their recent unconvincing home results, Bayer has remained prolific at the BayArena, scoring at least two goals in six of their last seven home matches in the Bundesliga.

The team from the German capital is a point outside the relegation play-off in the Bundesliga. A 2-0 home win over Augsburg could turn out to be a massive result in the content of Hertha’s season.

The victory last time out was only their third win in their previous 11 outings in the Bundesliga. Unfortunately for Hertha, they have lost the other eight matches in the poor 11-game league run.

Stefan Schwarz’s team have been woeful on their travels in recent months, as they have failed to win in seven away games in the Bundesliga, having suffered six straight defeats. They have conceded at least two goals in five of their previous six away games in the German top flight.

Bayer Leverkusen look set to be without the injured Charles Aranguiz and Andrey Lunev. Hertha Berlin could be missing Stevan Jovetic, Chidera Ejuke, Wilfried Kanga, Kelian Nsona and Agustin Rogel through a mixture of injury and fitness problems.

Despite some underwhelming recent league form, I am backing Bayer Leverkusen to get back to winning ways in this clash. The main reason is that Hertha are woeful travellers who concede many goals on their travels.
