The Premier League returns this weekend following the international break as we continue with the run-in toward the end of the campaign. There’s still plenty left to fight for at both ends of the table, and it feels like we’re going to get a few more answers over the course of the next few days. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Aston Villa Form GuideAston Villa fans are on cloud nine right now. They’re looking good in the Conference League, they are in the top four mix in the Premier League, and their home form is out of this world. The boys from the second city are absolutely flying under Unai Emery and if they can carry this momentum forward, there are a lot of options for the club - and they’re all pretty exciting.
Villa beat Nottingham Forest and Luton before also defeating Ajax over two legs to reach the quarter-finals of the Conference League. In the league, though, they’ve hit a few stumbling blocks, losing to Tottenham to go alongside a 1-1 draw on the road against West Ham.
Wolves Form GuideWolverhampton Wanderers are looking really good right now and Gary O’Neil deserves a lot of plaudits for what he’s been able to do at the club. When he came in, they were seen as one of the favourites to go down - but at this point, their focus is on the top half as opposed to the bottom three. Their cup dreams may be over, but there’s still something to fight for in the league.
Following wins over Tottenham, Sheffield United and Brighton, Wolves fell to a 3-0 defeat against Newcastle. They did bounce back with a win over Fulham, but after that, they had their hearts broken by Coventry in a 3-2 defeat in the FA Cup.
Match PredictionWhen both teams are at their best, this is a pretty even game - but Wolves are struggling when it comes to their injury list and it’ll take a while for that to iron itself out. We’re expecting to see a really intriguing clash between two Midlands rivals, with our official prediction being an Aston Villa win.
