Aston Villa vs Burnley Prediction (30.12.2023)

The festive period continues as we approach the final few days of 2023. The Premier League has never been more exciting as all 20 clubs prepare for a big push into the new year. There are plenty of fixtures to work through this week and today, we’re going to take a look at what should be a pretty interesting clash between Aston Villa and Burnley.

Aston Villa are a club transformed under Unai Emery. They really do feel like a complete unit for the first time in a long time, and their reward is the return of European football to Villa Park. Given what they’ve been able to do in the summer transfer window, many are wondering just how far up the table they can go. Right now, it truly feels like the sky is the limit for the Midlanders.

After beating Manchester City and Arsenal, Villa drew 1-1 with Zrinjski before defeating Brentford on the road. Since then, however, they’ve struggled, drawing 1-1 at home to Sheffield United before losing a two-goal lead to fall 3-2 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

For the longest time now, it’s felt as if Burnley were just waiting to kick into a higher gear - but for whatever reason, Vincent Kompany’s boys have failed to live up to the hype. They’re playing good football and can tough it out against pretty much anyone but when it comes to actually getting positive results, they’ve left their fans feeling pretty worried as we carry on through December.

Following a 5-0 triumph over Sheffield United, Burnley fell to a 1-0 loss courtesy of Wolves. After a 1-1 draw with Brighton they lost to Everton, bounced back by beating Fulham 2-0, and then looked poor in a 2-0 home loss at the hands of Liverpool.

Burnley are really struggling to make an impact right now and they need to adjust their style of play if they want to make a real push for survival in the league this season. The hosts, meanwhile, will see this as an absolute gift of a game, with our prediction being an Aston Villa win.
