The North London derby is back once again this weekend as Tottenham Hotspur play host to bitter rivals Arsenal.
Tottenham Form GuideTottenham fans can be forgiven for feeling a bit disgruntled. After all, Antonio Conte hasn’t been shy in criticising the first team in the media, and when you partner that up with the lack of confidence in their squad it suddenly becomes clear that there may be real problems here.
Spurs returned on Boxing Day and were immediately thrust into the line of fire with an end-to-end 2-2 draw against Brentford. Just a few days later, they stumbled once again with a 2-0 loss at the hands of Aston Villa.
They had to respond in their next game and they did, making the trip to Selhurst Park where they beat Crystal Palace 4-0. In the FA Cup, things were less convincing as they just about overcame third tier Portsmouth.
Arsenal Form GuideArsenal are on cloud nine and that much is an understatement. They are top of the Premier League table and show no signs of slowing down, highlighting just how well Mikel Arteta has done to turn the club’s fortunes around over the course of the last few years.
After overcoming an early scare to beat West Ham on Boxing Day, league leaders Arsenal played out a six-goal thriller to defeat Brighton and, initially, extend their lead over City. They were unlucky not to beat Newcastle in a 0-0 draw just three days later, and then in the FA Cup, their crop of exciting youngster were able to shine through in a 3-0 victory over Oxford United.
Latest Team NewsThe big hope for Conte and Spurs is that they can welcome back some players for the derby. Rodrigo Bentancur, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Dejan Kulusevski will all hope to have recovered from respective knocks, whereas Lucas Moura has been definitively ruled out.
There aren’t expected to be many surprise appearances in Arteta’s starting XI, but what has been confirmed is that Gabriel Jesus and Reiss Nelson will miss the party through injury.
Match PredictionIn terms of an official prediction, we’re going to stick with over 2.5 goals over the course of the 90 minutes. The pair have scored over 2.5 between them in six of their last seven meetings, and based on their current form, we should expect more of the same.
