On Thursday night, Almeria and Barcelona go head-to-head at the Power Horse Stadium as both teams look for a win in gameweek 36 of La Liga.
Almeria back to losing last time outThe home team suffered a 3-2 defeat at Real Betis last time out, which was their third loss in their last four La Liga games. A 1-0 win at Rayo Vallecano in gameweek 34 was the only exception in the four-game run.
In truth, Almeria has looked like a doomed team for weeks or arguable months. They are currently sitting in 20th place in La Liga, having already suffered relegation.
One of their main issues in their most recent Liga games has been a leaky defence, as they have conceded at least two goals in five of their last six games in the Spanish top-flight.
Almeria has failed to win any of their home games in La Liga this season. In fact, they are winless in 18 Liga matches on home soil dating back to last season.
Barcelona’s main aim now is runners-up spot in La LigaThe Blaugrana can no longer retain their title, but now they are in a battle with Catalan rivals Girona to finish second place in La Liga. Xavi’s team is currently in second place in the table, a point clear of their third-place Catalonian rivals.
Although Barcelona’s recent form in La Liga has been relatively inconsistent, they have won six of their last eight outings in the Spanish top flight.
The visitors have also been prolific in the Liga recently, scoring at least two goals in each of their last four outings.
Barcelona has suffered back-to-back away defeats at rivals Real Madrid and Girona, but they have also won five of their previous eight away games in the Spanish top flight.
What am I backing? The obvious bet is the away win. Instead, the bet I am backing is over 2.5 goals scored, as Almeria are not great in defence, while Barcelona are highly potent.
