Reigning Spanish champions Barcelona head into Wednesday evening’s home game with struggling Almeria in La Liga looking to rediscover the winning touch.
Barcelona form guideThe Catalan giants experienced another blow in the title race last time out as Valencia held them to a 1-1 draw at Mestalla last time out.
The result means that Xavi’s team has failed to win in three games in all competitions. The draw at least ended a short two-game losing run for the home team.
The result against Los Che also means that Barcelona have recorded just one win in their last four matches in La Liga.
They have plenty of work to do even to force their way back into the title fight, as they are now third place in the table, seven points adrift of league leaders Girona.
The Spanish champions have won eight of their last ten home matches in La Liga. Barcelona has also kept a highly credible 21 clean sheets in the last 28 home matches in the Spanish top flight.
Almeria form guideThe team from Andalusia’s poor La Liga campaign continued last time out, as they drew 0-0 with Mallorca. The result means that Almeria has failed to win any of their 17 matches in the Spanish top-flight.
It is not looking good for the visitor's chances of beating the drop this season, as they have collected just five points and are now eight points adrift of safety.
One of the biggest reasons for Almeria’s poor campaign has been a poor away record in La Liga, as they are winless in 12 games on their travels in the league, having suffered ten defeats and picked up just two draws.
What am I backing?Barcelona may not have been in convincing of late, but I believe they could have too much for the beleaguered strugglers.
