Sutton Utd vs Accrington ST Prediction (23.03.2024)

Sutton United head into the weekend at the bottom of League Two. But three points from safety, they have hope, and this Saturday they host Accrington Stanley in League Two, a side in the bottom half, and a game that Sutton will have highlighted as one they can win.

Rock bottom, Sutton have seven games left to secure their league status, and they've played more than those they are chasing, so it's not going to be easy for them. They're desperate, but do still have a chance, as we saw from them last weekend, so they'll come here with confidence behind them, as they go into this huge game.

They won 1-0 away from home last weekend against Forest Green, the team directly above them and who they are chasing down. It was a huge three points, and had they lost that, I wouldn't have given them a chance. They've also picked up a point in a draw with Grimsby recently too, so the signs are there that they can fight.

After an early push near the top of the table, it has been much more like business as expected for Accrington in recent months. They've slid down the table, and find themselves in 16th as we head into the weekend, with nothing to really play for between now and the final day.

They do come here two unbeaten, most recently they drew 2-2 at home to Notts County last weekend and before that, they went away to Swindon and won 2-1. Both results are good, but are against other sides with little to play for, and I think we are seeing a far less intense version of Accrington right now.

A huge moment for Sutton, and I think they can keep their survival hopes alive by taking a huge three points here. They are fancied to win this, with Accrington having nothing to play for, so I'll take the home team.
