Exeter City vs Accrington ST Prediction (25.03.2023)

While Exeter may be in the middle of the table with nothing to play for, this is a huge game for Accrington, now in the relegation zone, and on a losing run.

Exeter head into the games this weekend in 13th position, with 46 points on the board. They have little to play for other than pride, and will be hoping to get up into the top half before the end of the season. They've been hit and miss recently, winning two, drawing two and losing two of their last six games.

Exeter were in action last weekend, away at Cheltenham but were beaten 3-1 in a disappointing performance. However, their home form is much better, from their last three home games, they've won two and drawn one. Those two wins came against Lincoln and Cambridge, comfortably beating teams below them in the league.

We are coming to the key part of the season, and just as Accrington need to get some points in the bank, they are really struggling. They've lost four and drawn one of their last five, and to make things worse, their last three games have all been at home, where they need to start picking up points.

In the week, Accrington lost 2-0 at home to the now league leaders Plymouth, who had a very comfortable evening. Before that though, last Saturday, it was the big one and a big blow for Accrington. At home, they were beaten by big relegation rival MK Dons, a move which has taken their rival forward and out of the relegation zone.

While Exeter may only be playing for pride between now and the end of the season, they still have enough to beat Accrington and are my pick to win this game. They have a bit of quality, and given their recent run, Accrington are showing none right now, something which can result in another loss for them.
