Norwich are in the playoff hunt and are looking to maintain their good form when they host Sunderland on Saturday afternoon in the Championship. Sunderland should also have been in the hunt, but a recent bad run has taken them well out of contention, barring something special to end the season.
Norwich Form GuideWith 52 points, Norwich are in 7th position, meaning they are just outside of the playoffs right now. They're aiming for two teams, Hull in 6th on 55 points and West Brom in 5th on 56 points, so well within reach, and a win here would really put the pressure on.
Norwich are five unbeaten now, with three wins and two draws, but you could definitely argue those draws came in the easier games they had. One was at QPR, the other was last weekend, at Blackburn. Wins have been good though, 4-1 at home to Cardiff, 4-2 at home to Watford, and 2-1 at home to fellow playoff hopeful Coventry. As you can see, they're all at home, Norwich have won their last four home games.
Sunderland Form GuideFrom very high expectations at the start of the season, to mid table obscurity almost right now, it's been a tough campaign for Sunderland football club. Beginning with Tony Mowbray, moving onto Michael Beale, now moving on from him, there's been a lot of change, but ultimately, for a variety of reasons, things simply haven't been good enough.
They come into this game on the back of three straight defeats, with the most recent being a 2-1 loss at home to Swansea. Before that, they lost 2-1 at Birmingham and before that, 1-0 at Huddersfield. All three of those teams are in the bottom half, in the relegation battle right now, to make matters worse for Sunderland.
Match PredictionWith Sunderland in such a mess, I will have to side with Norwich here. They're going along nicely, are showing some very good form at home, and can get the job done against an out of sorts Sunderland side.
