With the majority of top leagues across Europe coming to an end, it’s time for Major League Soccer to step up. There are plenty of reasons why this campaign has the potential to be incredibly exciting but beyond that, it’s just been nice to see the continued growth and development of the game in North America. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake.
Dallas Form GuideDallas edged their way into the playoffs and finished in seventh spot in the Western Conference - with some arguing they didn’t belong there based on the campaign as a whole. In the playoffs, in all fairness, they did well to take Seattle to a third game in their best of three series - but they came up on the losing end. Now, it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back.
While they may have only played 12 games, Dallas haven’t put forward a great account of themselves. They have three wins, three draws and six losses to their name, and they’ve only been able to score 13 goals. Whatever they’re doing right now, it isn’t working.
Salt Lake Form GuideIn terms of the Western Conference, Real Salt Lake did a solid job of making their way up the table and earning a spot in the playoffs. When they got there, though, they were beaten by Houston in the first round, in a three-game series that saw two matches go to penalties. They have potential, and it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back this time around.
Salt Lake have come firing out of the blocks and as it stands, they lead the charge in the Western Conference with 28 points. They have eight wins, four draws and just two losses behind them, and they also have the second-best goal difference in the entire MLS with +13.
Match PredictionDallas just haven’t been at the races so far this season and that kind of goes without saying - and in a game like this, the boys from Utah are going to enjoy picking them apart at the back. So, in case you haven’t guessed already, we’re going to predict a Salt Lake victory here.
