The UEFA Champions League is back in our lives this week with all 32 clubs involved having two games remaining in their push for the knockouts. There’s a whole lot left to be determined across the next two matchdays and today, we’re going to take a look at what we expect to be a really entertaining clash as Real Madrid lock horns with Napoli.
Real Madrid Form GuideReal Madrid are the most successful club in the history of the European Cup and it’s not even close. They seem to be capable of winning this competition with their eyes closed and although they’re coming off the back of a season that was far from perfect, there’s still an inner belief within the foundation of the club that they can kick on and make another run to the final.
Real beat Union Berlin thanks to a late Bellingham goal and after that, they were off to the races. They defeated Napoli 3-2, they beat Braga 2-1, and they tore through Braga again just weeks later in a convincing 3-0 victory.
Napoli Form GuideNapoli are the kings of Italian football after their Serie A triumph last season. At this point, though, the celebrations are a distant memory, as the focus turns to what they can achieve this season. They made some real progress in the Champions League last time out but if they want to cement themselves as one of the continent’s big players, they need to go a step or two further.
Napoli’s late winner over Braga gave them momentum heading into a clash with Real Madrid, but they wound up falling to a 3-2 defeat in that one. They did bounce back with a 1-0 win over Union Berlin, before dropping points in a 1-1 rematch against the German side.
Match PredictionNapoli shouldn’t be afraid of going to the Bernabeu given what we know about their overall quality. In reality, it’s a question of the kind of performance they’re able to produce, but either way, we do feel like the hosts will be too strong in a Real Madrid win.
