The UEFA Champions League returns to our lives once again this week as we enter the second half of the group stage. At this point, all 32 clubs are well aware of what their objectives are as they prepare for the final three-game stretch. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what is bound to be an electric clash between Red Star Belgrade and RB Leipzig.

When you think of historic clubs in European football, it’s hard not to think of FK Crvena Zvezda aka Red Star Belgrade. They are regulars at this level and as well as that, they happen to have one of the most intimidating home atmospheres on the planet. They aren’t favoured to reach the knockouts, but you can bet they’ll have a lot of fun in the months ahead.

While Red Star Belgrade put up a good fight in the reverse fixture just a few weeks ago, it was Leipzig who picked up an important 3-1 win.

In the eyes of many football fans who dislike franchise clubs, RB Leipzig aren’t a team that we should focus on too much. In equal measure, their success over the course of the last decade can’t be understated or ignored. They are now regulars in this competition and while they may not go all the way, they certainly have the talent necessary to cause some problems in the group and beyond.
