Paris Saint Germain vs Ajaccio Prediction (13.05.2023)

PSG and Ajaccio will collide this weekend as we roll through to the end of the Ligue 1 season.

Paris Saint-Germain are the kings of French football and nobody can deny that. Unfortunately, even if they do secure another Ligue 1 title (which looks likely), there are still going to be question marks surrounding them. Between their inability to win the Champions League and worries about their top stars leaving, they have a big summer transfer window ahead of them.

While a huge win over Lens followed by a victory away at Angers gave PSG some breathing space, they slipped up in a surprising 3-1 loss at home to Lorient at the end of April. Thankfully for them, they rebounded fairly smoothly by edging past Troyes to kickstart May.

It’s safe to say that things aren’t looking good for Ajaccio. They’ve been poor for months now with just six wins all season long, to run alongside 22 goals in 34 league games. That isn’t the kind of return you’d expect to see from a team that, at times, has shown such promise. Now, all they can really do is go for it - hoping that putting their best foot forward leads to success.

After being beaten by Strasbourg in mid-April, Ajaccio somewhat steadied the ship with a 0-0 draw at home to Brest. Unfortunately, they went on to lose 3-0 to Lille, before another underwhelming 0-0 draw - this time against Toulouse.

Messi still appears to be suspended by PSG with the following players out injured: Pembele, Mendes, Mukiele, Kimpembe and Neymar.

Touzghar serves the final game of his suspension here with Alphonse being viewed as a fitness concern.

Between a team trying to wrap up the title and a team that is all but relegated, it’s not hard to see which way this one is going to go. We can picture a scenario in which Ajaccio push the pace in the first 5-10 minutes, but once things start to die down, the hosts will take control - ending in a PSG win.
