With the majority of top leagues across Europe coming to an end, it’s time for Major League Soccer to step up. There are plenty of reasons why this campaign has the potential to be incredibly exciting but beyond that, it’s just been nice to see the continued growth and development of the game in North America. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between CF Montreal and Nashville SC.
Montreal Form GuideThe city of Montreal flies under the radar when it comes to picking out passionate fanbases. The teams they have behind them are ones built on the shoulders of giants, and the same goes for CF Montreal. They aren’t the biggest and they aren’t the baddest but we do think they’ve got potential to grow, especially in a conference that looks set to be wide open once again.
Montreal haven’t been afraid to go forward this season but they’ve also been really, really poor defensively, conceding 31 goals across just 13 games so far. When you combine that with just three wins in the league, it’s easy to see why some fans are concerned.
Nashville Form GuideNashville, for the longest time, were really pushing the tempo towards the top of the Eastern Conference - until they fell away massively. They wound up finishing 7th in the division and, to the surprise of nobody, went out of the playoffs pretty quickly at the hands of Orlando City. At this point, it’ll be interesting to see how they’ve been able to rebound from that disappointment.
Nashville’s start to the season can be best described as “underwhelming”, in our humble opinion. They’ve played 13 games up to this point and they only have three wins and six draws, and while that does mean they’ve only lost four times, it does leave them in 11th in the East.
Match PredictionIt certainly feels as if Montreal and Nashville are on a pretty even footing in terms of overall quality and in a game like this, we don’t think they’ll be ready to take too many chances. We anticipate a technical and nervy game, and in terms of a prediction, we’re going to shoot for a draw.
