The Premier League returns this weekend following the international break as we continue with the run-in toward the end of the campaign. There’s still plenty left to fight for at both ends of the table, and it feels like we’re going to get a few more answers over the course of the next few days. Today, we’ll be taking a look at what should be an intriguing clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Luton Town.
Tottenham Form GuideTottenham Hotspur fans have enjoyed seeing Big Ange do his thing with this squad - but as time has gone on, he’s been forced to confront the cold reality of how difficult the Premier League is. The main goal for the remainder of the campaign will be to get the club back in the top four and if he can manage that, he’ll have a solid platform to build off of in the summer.
After being handed a 2-1 loss by Wolves last month, Spurs were able to bounce back with two nice wins over Crystal Palace (3-1) and Aston Villa (4-0). Unfortunately for them, the good times came to an end as they were humbled 3-0 by Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Luton Form GuideLuton Town fans are on cloud nine right now as they continue to enjoy life in the Premier League. When you put that alongside their success in the FA Cup, we’d say this is shaping up to be a pretty fun season for the Hatters. The priority, of course, is staying in the top flight, and we’d say they are looking good in that quest as we head into the final third of the season.
Luton battled hard against Aston Villa but wound up on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat. From there, they earned a point in a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. They went on to blow a 3-0 lead in a 4-3 loss to Bournemouth, but they got another draw three days later, this time against Nottingham Forest.
Match PredictionLuton can trade blows with just about anyone in the Premier League and we do think they’re going to put the pressure on Spurs from beginning to end in this game. Ultimately, though, there’s a gulf in quality between the two sides, which is why we’re going to predict a Tottenham win.
